Amazon Kindle Comparison: Which Kindle to Choose in 2023

Kindles. They inspire you to read more, boost productivity, and even turn procrastination into a productive habit. In this guide, we'll show you how to choose the perfect Kindle model for you.
Cutting to the Chase
The kindle paperwhite is the best choice (for most users). It’s the midrange option, has all the important features and nice to haves, as well as having the cleanest design by far. If you are willing to splurge a little more, the kindle signature brings a few extra features like 32 gigs of storage and wireless charging (keep in mind you have to buy the charger separately). The Kindle 10th Gen is a solid option if you are on a budget, and you should basically never need the Oasis.
Kindle 10th Gen

This Kindle clocks in at 60 pounds (or 90 dollars). This is the cheapest option Amazon has to offer and overall a solid purchase. It has a 6-inch screen, an expected battery life of 4 weeks and 8GB storage. As expected, being the cheapest option does have its setbacks. It has a micro-usb port, which is quite an old charging method. This means your kindle has slower charging times and requires its own separate cable each time you want to charge it. Furthermore, the basic kindle lacks a warm backlight, dark mode and any form of water resistance. The backlight might be a problem if you tend to read at night, as some studies show that blue light messes with our internal clock, (or something along those lines). So you might want to consider that, but it doesn’t personally make much of a difference to me.

Kindle paperwhite

The Kindle Paperwhite is the bestselling e-reader from Amazon. The device comes with a 6-inch display and a built-in warmth adjustable light that makes it easy to read in any light condition. This Kindle’s design is more streamlined and has a slightly glossier finish. The Kindle Paperwhite comes with 16 GB of storage capacity and is sadly only available black. It’s designed for people who read a lot and don’t mind splurging a little more on a device that makes reading a more enjoyable experience. The Kindle Paperwhite costs around £120. If you’re an avid reader who likes to own a wide collection of books, this device is a great choice. Conveniently, this Kindle charges with usb-c. This means faster charging times and better continuity.

Kindle Paperwhite Signature

This is pretty much the same as the paperwhite in all but name. The design is so similar you probably wouldn’t notice which was which unless you checked the name on the back. The signature does come with a few handy features though. It has a light detector up top so it can auto-adjust to any lighting (I personally don’t care about this) , and an insane 32 gigs of storage. So unless you listen to audiobooks on your kindle for some reason, you really shouldn’t need this much. Other than that, an actual useful feature of this kindle is wireless charging, this means that you can buy a wireless charger (which will set you back 50 quid by the way) and place it on your bedside table so your kindle never runs our of charge. Here’s another feature I never thought I needed. It’s Waterproof. So you can read your favourite novels in the shower if you wanted to… If you’re sold already, be prepared to 50 pounds more (not including the charger). This kindle clocks in at £170 and may be the one for you if you have a larger budget.

Kindle Oasis

The Amazon Kindle Oasis is the largest Kindle device from Amazon, with no good reason. Like the normal Kindle Paperwhite, the Oasis still features a 6-inch touchscreen display. The only thing that sets it apart from the Paperwhite is its somewhat unique design. The Oasis comes with a physical buttons and a charging cover, and that’s the only difference. It’s also water-resistant and features a 32 GB storage capacity. The Kindle Oasis (2017 model) is an expensive device and costs around £230. Trust me, you don’t need this.

Conclusion
Hope this gave you the insight that you needed. If in doubt, you can never go wrong with the Kindle Paperwhite. With so many Kindle models available, it can be challenging to choose the right model. Which Kindle model are you planning to buy?
